and we their only visitors.
The brief day dawns, auspicious, cold, a silent breeze.

Palettes dance with oranges and lemons
as cuspid shapes drift into place
in golden pools around each tree.

Proudly the artists stand
and in the coming days
blush briefly to a scarlet brown.
